English School 19th Century
After Bacchus and Ariadne by Titian
Oil on canvas
100 by 110 cms
In the 19th Century it was a great honour to be allowed as an Artist to reside in the Art Galleries of London to Copy the Old Masters. This such painting has been taken directly from the Bacchus and Ariadne by Titian which at the time could well have been at the previous location of the National Gallery at no. 100 Pall Mall, the former home of John Julius Angerstein.
